The quickest way to identify good links is by setting the filters in Monitor Backlinks.

First, go to the Your Links and click the New filter button:

Finding Good Links

To find good links, set the following filters:

Majestic Trust Flow greater than 10
Majestic Citation Flow geater than 10

After applying that filter, for each backlink check:

that the number of external links is under 100 (and under 25 is really good)
that the content on the backlinking page is high quality

If all of the 4 points identified look good, then it is most likely a good link.

Finding Bad Links

To find bad links, set the following filter:

After applying that filter, go through the links and do a manual review. The biggest factor in identifying the quality of the link is the content of backlinking page. The content should be high quality, and ideally relevant to your own site.

Having a warning definitely does not mean that it is a bad backlink. It is just a helpful indicator.

How do I disavow backlinks using Monitor Backlinks?

First, identify your bad links. Make sure that they are indeed bad links, because if you accidentally disavow good links, it will hurt your rankings.

Second, disavow the bad links that you identified inside Monitor Backlinks. To do this:

go to Your Links:

check the links you want to disavow, click the "Disavow" button and "Disavow Domain" (Generally, we recommend disavowing the domain rather than the URL - here's why.)

You will be able to see your disavowed links highlighted in red and with "Disavowed" tag:

I am using the default setting of showing one link per referring domain. How do I change it to see more links per referring domain?

If you'd like to see more than 1 link per referring domain, then you can change this setting for domains you've already added, by taking the steps below. Please note that the extra backlinks that appear will count towards the backlink limit on your plan.

First, click on Manage Domains:

Then, check the domain you want to edit, click Settings, then "Set links limit per referring domain":

Also, note that you can see up to 20 links per domain, by importing them through a CSV file. You can import backlinks by clicking on "+ Add Links Manually" from Your Links tab.

What is the difference between deleting and disavowing backlinks?

What is the difference between deleting backlinks inside Monitor Backlinks and disavowing backlinks?

Deleting a backlink is just deleting the backlink in the Monitor Backlinks system. The backlink still exists on the internet and we could not change that.

Disavowing is telling Google that you don't want to be associated with a backlink. So you don't potentially get penalized for it in the eyes of Google. Again, the backlink still exists on the internet and Google could not change that.

If you disavow something in Monitor Backlinks, you still need to submit a disavow report to Google to finish the disavowal process. This article has more details on that.

When, if ever, should I delete backlinks inside Monitor Backlinks?

For the most part, you should not really delete any backlinks within Monitor Backlinks. The only reason for wanting to reduce the number of backlinks tracked would be that you don't need to upgrade your plan to continue using the features. (This will not really work long term though, because those links will get readded as our system discovers new backlinks.)

And in fact, you should not delete backlinks, even if you've disavowed them. It's best to keep track of them, so that the next time you want to disavow some new links, simply update the old disavow report. If you disavowed previously, you can go to your Googl

You can import links from Google Search Console, as well as all the other popular sources, like Majestic, Ahrefs or Moz to your Monitor Backlinks account.

To import your file click "Import links via file upload" icon in Your Links dashboard:

Then upload your file in the new window that opens. To import links from other sources, you need to make sure that the imported file matches the format that Monitor Backlinks accepts - .csv or .txt, otherwise you might have trouble importing links.
